Villagers pick up impressive win

The Villagers produced their best performance of their preseason campaign on Wednesday evening, with an impressive victory against Premier Division side Winsford United.

Jason McShane’s second half strike was enough to give us a narrow win in tough conditions at the Offside Trust stadium.

The first half saw James McShane’s men have the better of the play with Reece Dwyer striking the woodwork with an audacious effort from distance, with the crossbar still rattling the visitors hit the post with a low effort, as the away side carried a threat.

Half Time: Barnton 0-0 Winsford United

The second half saw the Villagers create more chances with efforts from Dwyer and McShane going close before the returning McShane was on hand to finish smartly past the Winsford keeper to give his side a deserved lead.

The away side’s quality saw them press us late on, with Arran Lyons being called into action on a couple of occasions but was able to keep them out to pick up a confidence boosting clean sheet.

Full Time: Barnton 1-0 Winsford United

Unfortunately, due to a growing injury list we have to cancel our trip to Conwy which was planned for this Saturday the 27th of July.
